2011 Ladies' Shootout Results...

Sally Frank wins the ladies' shootout.

The top CCSA women point getters competed in a 4 hole qualifier on Lewis and Clark - where the six low net scores moved on to a single elimination shootout.  They started on hole # 5, and paired qualifiers by one each hole.  Sally Frank, who was playing in her second shootout, shot a 41 in nine holes (including the qualifier holes) - her best nine hole score ever!  Congrats to Sally.

Upcoming Men's Events

October 9th / Men's 2-Man Challenge

9:00AM Shotgun

Pick your partner and play in a 27 hole, mixed format event.  Some have said that the 2 Man Challenge is the best member tournament at the club.  Come see for yourself.  Find a partner (as long as both of you are not 16 hdcps or above) and enter via ForeTees (more details on the tourney will be found there)

October 15th / 2nd Annual Mulligan Open

Tavern Creek with tee times starting around 8:30AM

18 hole individual stroke play contest under regular USGA rules except for one biggie.  Players are allowed one mulligan per hole (anywhere).  The only caveat is that if a player uses a mulligan, it is a "must go" (it has to be played if used).  Handicaps will be at 50% of course handicap.  Top three are in the money plus skins.  Sign up on ForeTees to get in.

The courses are great shape and are recovering quite well from the over-seeding and aerification that has been performed in recent weeks.  Be sure to come out and enjoy the camaraderie and the courses.  

One more thing, there are quite a few of you that haven't utilized your 6 free guest passes for 2011.  Hopefully, with cooperation from mother nature, October would be a great time to showcase the club to your friends and business associates.

CCSA has a new club champ!

Mark Allenspach defeated Ken Willis in the 36 hole finals for his first CCSA Club Championship.  Mark (who played his college golf for Indiana) went low early in the first round on Tavern Creek with a slew of birdies on the front nine (#2, #5, #8), and held on to win 6&5 over "the kicker".  Willis has been playing well all summer, and is in the 2-man progressive finals with partner Bob Rozell - to be played later this month.  So, for the first time in a while, the vaunted parking spot will have a rightful "owner".  Congrats, Spock.

2011 CCSA Butler Classic Results

Congrats!!

Captain Jim Neinhaus, accompanied by Jim Morton, Matt Ference and Dale Klaus, breezed to a 12 point victory over an otherwise well-balanced field (195 points over 2 rounds) in the 2011 CCSA Butler Classic.  The team efficiently utilized all shots in the first round on Tavern Creek, and were able to "hang on" to their large lead in round two on Lewis & Clark.  

Below:  Matt Ference and Jim Morton on the practice range before the final round - oozing with confidence, it may appear.  Matt and Jim have played in many competitions together, and may have benefited from "team chemistry" when they wound up on the same team during the random draw.  The word on the street is that they also helped keep JN's 2-iron in the bag throughout the weekend.
