When USGA agronomist, Ty McClellon, visited the club last summer, he stated his belief that Tavern Creek probably had the best vistas in the state if it were not for that fact that a good number of those views were covered up with trees and undergrowth. When he made those remarks, he was standing on the #14 tee on Tavern Creek. As you may know, over the years, the growth of underbrush and associated trees have altered the courses from their original design, and just as importantly blocked airflow in key locations - very critical factor in the summer for good turf health. The maintenance staff, in coordination with the greens committee, has taken Ty's recommendations to heart. Below is a snapshot of some of the work that has been done to the courses over the winter seasons the past two years especially. By improving airflows for the tee boxes in this case below, the courses are also being restored toward their original design, which is quite spetacular some may say.
