2014 Black & Blue Challenge Results

9th MAGA Open at CCSA features a full field and 65 pros (July 10-12)

Make plans to come out and witness some of the best professional and amateur golf in the midwest on display at the Lewis and Clark course (July 10-12) with a limited field Pro-AM on July 9th (please call the pro shop for availability).

Spectatatorship is of course free of charge.

"The field for the 9th Metropolitan Open Championship is set, and 65 golf professionals from St. Louis and around the country will compete for a $15,000 first place check.  Groupings and Starting Times were released today for Rounds 1 and 2, two rounds will be played July 10-11 before being cut to the Low 40 scores and ties for the Final Round on Saturday July 12.

While defending champion Drew Stoltz was unable to make it back to St. Albans in 2014, several past champions are in the field.  Skip Berkmeyer, the inaugural champion in 2006, will tee it up with University of Illinois Head Golf Coach Mike Small and Bellerive Country Club teaching professional Brian Fogt in Rounds 1 and 2.  This will be Coach Small’s debut in the Open after several attempts to try and fit into his schedule.

Past champions Shawn Jasper (2010 & 2011) and Mitchell Gregson (2012) will be grouped with 2014 Old Warson Cup Champion Phil Caravia in Rounds 1 & 2.  We have several players with Web.com experience in the field this year.

The week will kick off with a Pro-Am event on Wednesday July 9th.  First round will commence at 7:30a Thursday with starting times going throughout the day.  Live Scoring will again be available throughout the championship and on the Plaza Motors Scoreboard.  The public is welcome to attend, free of charge."

Metrolpolitan Open Strives to be a top midwest event

 

Dustin Ruch putts for $25k in the Plaza Motors Light up the Night event

Thanks to Jerry Patterson and the entire Plaza Motors team for a wonderful evening of viewing 36 incredible luxury cars and the chance to putt for $25k!  Twenty-five men and women made the qualifying 15 foot putt, but it was CCSA member Dustin Ruch who sank the putt two more times to qualify for the chance at $25k.  He putted from 50 ft and came up a bit short, but still walked away with $250!

18 teams made the shootout.  This year 6 teams each were sent to 3 qualifying holes (Lewis & Clark hole 9, 10, and 17) one player hitting from 150 yards and alternate shot till holed.  Three teams from each hole qualified  for one of the 9 spots to play Lewis #18 for a chance at the final 3.  Nine teams played #18 Lewis where two teams made 3 and two teams made 4.  A putt off between the Bugh and Schuemann teams put Bugh into final 3 where Michael Hammack and his guest prevailed over Bugh/Mohan and Cahill/Dwyer for the championship after playing #18 Lewis two more times!

The 2014 Tradition Day 2 - Moneyball big winners!

David Johnson and his guest Ryan Lundquist were the big winners in the new Moneyball shootout Friday afternoon.  They were the wildcard team drawn to gain a spot in the final round where David stuck his wedge from 94 yards on 18 Lewis to 6 feet to win a total of $2350!!!!

The 2014 Tradition is underway!
